FOREIGN CREDENTIAL EVALUATIONS accepted by the US Department of Education.
Academic Credentials Evaluation Service assists people educated outside the United States of America in determining the equivalency of their international academic credentials in terms of an education equivalency in the United States of America.
Since the educational systems of countries vary greatly, comparing the educational level of individuals educated in different countries is complicated and requires specialized knowledge. The procedure used to make such a comparison is known as Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation.
Foreign academic credential evaluation is the process of determining the U.S. academic equivalent of studies completed outside the United States. The process involves a thorough analysis of official academic credentials (diplomas; transcripts with courses, credits/hours, and grades; etc.) conducted by an expert evaluator.
The evaluation process results in a final determination of equivalency which is issued in the form of a written Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation Report.
These evaluations are used for the purpose of high school, undergraduate, and graduate admissions, immigration, employment, and professional licensure, among others.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF CREDENTIALS EVALUATION SERVICES
In the absence of a US government agency that monitors such services, NACES is committed to formulating and maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards in the field. Members of NACES are independent, nongovernmental organizations that provide credential evaluation services to individuals who have completed part or all of their education outside the United States.
Camden University would guide the intending student at the time of application to be engaged with an Evaluation Agency. You may get your written Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation Report from any one of the member organizations of NACES®.
Camden University would contact the NACES® members directly for information about their services, fees, and requirements on behalf of the students. An official application would be made and upon successful submission, upon completion of the evaluation, the agency would send one sealed report to Camden University and the second copy the student directly.
The written Foreign Academic Credential Evaluation Report from any one of the member organizations of NACES® would be a core part of the official transcript for the Camden University degree program graduate.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process by which both formal learning for recognized awards, informal learning from experience and non-formal learning for uncertificated but planned learning (e.g. workshops/seminars that are uncertificated) is given academic recognition (Garnett et al., 2004).
The description of such learning as “prior” means that it has happened in the past and is often taken to mean prior to entry to a course of study towards a qualification.
Recognition of prior learning (RPL) is a process by which both formal learning for recognized awards, informal learning from experience and non-formal learning for uncertificated but planned learning is given academic recognition.
RPL has been the mainstay of all assessments conducted under national vocational education and training systems since the late 1980s and continues evolve as different vocational education and training (VET) systems evolve.
It was first introduced into the UK with the National Council for Vocational Qualifications, who adapted it as the central element of all competency-based assessments.
The British government to provide support to the creation of the National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ) and Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQ) systems during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
The National Training Board in Australia was one of the first outside of the UK to develop such a system as a framework for the transition towards the implementation of new apprentice programs and workplace training and assessment under the National Training Reform Agenda.
In 2015 the Canadian Association for Prior Learning Assessment (CAPLA) released guidelines for the Recognition of Prior Learning that serve to guide and enhance the assessment of learning through RPL across contexts, contribute to organizational effectiveness, and promote labour force development.
In Europe, a milestone in the acceptance of accreditation of learning from experience was achieved in 1986 when the Council for National Academic Awards, the body which until 1992 awarded degree qualifications in the polytechnic sector, published regulations for the accreditation of learning from experience for use in relation to its awards.
In 2005, the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) that oversees standards in higher education produced RPL guidelines.
The report of the UK Universities Vocational Awards Council on RPL highlighted that while RPL in the UK had more than a 20-year history and was espoused by over 90 higher education institutions, only an average of
